Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Prepare to enter a work area
  • Work area access permits, clearances and isolation permissions are obtained as required from relevant person/s in accordance with workplace procedures
       
Element: Relevant workplace safety legislation and codes of practices are identified and applied when entering the work area
       
Element: Safe work methods for controlling risks are obtained and applied prior to undertaking work activity in accordance with workplace safety procedures
       
Element: Isolated plant/machinery and equipment are checked in accordance with workplace procedures
       
Element: Tools and equipment required for the work are checked for safety and correct functionality in accordance with workplace procedures and regulatory requirements
       
Element: Apply safe working practices
  • Workplace safety and environmental risk control measures and workplace procedures are followed
       
Element: Workplace safety procedures for workplace emergencies, accidents and fires are followed in accordance with scope of responsibility and capability
       
Element: Follow workplace procedures for hazard identification and risk control
  • Hazards are identified and control measures implemented and monitored through regular and active participation in the consultation process with employer and other employees

Assessment Tasks
